All,
Since this project will most benefit from LLM expertise, and since most such expertise resides in CSSE, I would like to give you all the first opportunity to consider this collaboration request. If you want to participate, please email Dr. Murrah ASAP and cc me and Gerry. Since the deadline is coming up quickly and he needs to find collaborators fast, if I don’t receive cc of an email from any of you to him by tomorrow 12 noon, I will post his request to the university-wide AI at AU mailing list.
Thanks,
- Hari

Hari,
I am looking for both/either collaboration within computer science and software engineering, and the AI at AU community. Please share the message with that mailing list.
Thank you very much,

Hank

Hank,
Thank you for reaching out.
I certainly agree that building a LLM trained on research methods and making it available to the wider scientific community as a resource is a project idea that fits the call well.
If you are looking for faculty collaborators with expertise in LLMs from the department of computer science & software engineering, Gerry can help.
If you are looking for collaborators from other departments, I am happy to send your message below to the AI at AU mailing list – just let me know.
Regards,
- Hari

Subject: Google Accelerator: Generative AI Open Call

Gerry and Hari,
I have been working with the College of Education’s ADR, our development office, and Ari to prepare a proposal for the Google Accelerator call. I am reaching out to see if there is interest and expertise in the AU at AI group on this project. Below is a brief overview of our thinking:

This project proposes creating a domain-specific LLM that evaluates the rigor of scientific studies by extracting factors like study design and statistical metrics, rather than just summarizing findings. By integrating methodological standards, human-in-the-loop processes, and domain expertise, we aim to produce an open-source, AI-enhanced research tool applicable across diverse fields. The long-term vision is to enhance human scientific understanding and accelerate credible discovery, while documenting development and securing funding for continual improvement.

We believe this fits best with the second focus are of the call “Scientific Advancement”. While we have domain-specific knowledge around research methods, we feel the project would be strengthened by collaboration with someone in computer science or elsewhere in the AI at AU community.

Let me know if you have any questions or want more information about our thinking on this project. I am also open and eager for any feedback you wish to provide.

Thanks,

Hank
