    John Herbert Orr was a great uncle of mine. He started the Ampex magnetic tape business in Opelika in the mid-late 50's.  I can dig up history on him if needed.

Seems to me there was a gent named "John Orr" associated with the Ampex tape manufacturing in Opelika, too.
