No, it is not true.
This approach just doesn't allow to treat hardware array as a magic box which
can do everything.

Dana,

our department is responsible for both servers and storage.  The advantage of this solution is that if typical "servers group"
receive performance related ticket (request/problem) they cannot blame typical "storage group" for the problems because ... it is all the same :-)
So when we design solutions, from the very begin we look at both servers and storage and try to find a solution which
is optimised (again) from both sides: server and storage.
This approach pays off because we don't receive much performance related tickets :-)))
