[Veritas-vx] Adding a third mirror piece - VxVM 3.5

I see that there are alot of threads for the question
and I haven't read them yet, so please forgive me if I
am repeating what others may have already said.

My first question is why add a 3rd mirroring without
enabling it? Why not just create the 3rd mirror when
you are ready? You are not going to get any benefit
if you create it now and disable it.

If you still insist, then you will have to do it the
hard way by creating a subdisk and plex. You then
attach the subdisk the plex. Then when your ready,
you attach the plex to the volume.

To create your subdisk:

vxmake -g dg_name sd subdisk_name disk_name offset
length

To create your plex:

vxmake -g dg_name plex plex_name sd=subdisk_name

To associate subdisk to plex:

vxsd assoc plex_name subdisk_name

To associate plex to volume:

vxplex -g dg_name att volume_name plex_name

So you need to run 4 commands, as opposed to just one
using vxassist -b (the -b puts it in background mode)

No offence intended, but what you want to do makes no
sense and has no benifit.

Good luck.
