[Veritas-vx] RE: Minimum stripe size on Veritas Volume Manage r 3.1 & Solaris 2 .6

Silly me, I forgot to interpret the stripe size as being displayed in 512b
blocks (like I'm actually doing with all the other values displayed by
default by Veritas VM). The stripe size was O.K. and according to my command
line.
Thanks to Tony Glenn Griffiths and Wanke Matthias for reminding me this
Pulcinelle secret.

Hi,
Assuming this is a Solaris box, then the command is correct. you specified
32k as a SU, but vxprint displays sizes in sectors (512bytes on sol,
1024bytes on HPUX)

so 64 x 512 bytes = 32768 byes = 32KB

I created a 4 way stripe Veritas volume using the following command:

vxassist -b make perf_test 4g layout=stripe stripeunit=32k bill_f0_16
bill_f1_16 bill_f2_16 bill_f3_16

The command completed successfully.

However the stripe size is 64k instead of 32k. Why ?

I specified 32k on both command line and in /etc/default/vxassist.
