[Veritas-ha] FW: Problems with VCS 3.5 (AIX) - Mount Agent

Another thing to be aware of is mentioned in the VCS 3.5 for AIX Bundled
Agents Guide on page 28:
"NOTE: On AIX 5.1c systems, the fsck command cannot run on a
file system unless an entry for that file system is added to
/etc/filesystems. See "Listing File Systems in
/etc/filesystems on AIX 5.1c" on page 30 for more
information."
The entry on page 30 of the VCS 3.5 for AIX Bundled Agents Guide says:
"The Mount agent uses the fsck command to repair a corrupted
file system. In a cluster running AIX 5.1c, the fsck command
requires the /etc/filesystems file on each system to contain
entries for all VxFS and JFS file systems referenced by the
BlockDevice attribute of the Mount agent. The fsck -V vfstype
filesystemname command also does not work on AIX 5.1c systems
without a corresponding entry for the file system in
/etc/filesystems.
The crfs command automatically adds an entry for a new file
system to /etc/filesystems on the system it was created on;
the user must add entries to /etc/filesystems on all other
systems in the cluster. The mkfs command does not add an
entry for a new file system to /etc/filesystems; the user
must add entries to /etc/filesystems on all systems in the
cluster."
In my experience, this does NOT just apply to AIX 5.1c - I
have seen the same thing on AIX 5.2 ML3

Hi Marc,
Check the FsckOpt is set to either "-y" or "-n" this is the most common
cause of VCS 3.5 Mount resources not being probed. This is due to the
FsckOpt attribute being changed from an option attribute in 2.0 to a
required attribute in 3.5.

Duncan

Subject: [Veritas-ha] FW: Problems with VCS 3.5 (AIX) - Mount Agent
Hi,
I am having difficulty with the "Mount" resource for VCS 3.5 (AIX).
Using Foundation Suite 3.4.2 for AIX, I have created a VxFS file system
on a VxVM volume.
I have no problems getting VCS to on-line/off-line the disk group.
However, as soon as I "enable" the "Mount" resource to mount a file
system on the volume, I get a red question mark on the "Mount" resource
icon. When I try to on-line the resource, I get the message:
"Error: VCS: 10283: Resource has not been probed on system <my host
name>".
Can anyone please explain why I'm getting that error?
Thanks,
Marc Barrette
