[Veritas-bu] Strange issue with new tapes or tapes removed from library

Hi guys,

Can anyone help.

Got a strange issue, NBU 6.5 .

If I insert :

New tapes into library with previously unused barcode(should go to vol pool scratch)
Tapes that have been ejected offsite and have expired (should go to vol pool A)

On occasion (more often than not) after an inventory the tapes will be assigned to the wrong volume group (lets say vol group B)

Various vol. groups exist on the master server, but it is always the same one that is picked.  If you then delete the media, and reinventory the robot, the tapes will be assigned to the corrrect volume pool for the given barcode. 

The barcode rules are correct (perhaps confirmed by the fact on the second inventory after a delete the media is in the right volume).
However, rules have been deleted and re-created just in case.

Before inserting new media bpmedialist and vmquery confirm for sure that the barcode is unknown.

Any ideas ...
