Yes, mostly. But I have seen this on a few Solaris systems.

(I realize this is late...)
Are they windows 2003 clients? I had this problem with Volume Shadow
Copy Service being disabled. I had clients that would run for 2-3 days
and never die of a connection error. It turned out that Netbackup was
waiting for a response from the Volume Shadow Copy Service. Netbackup
requires it on Windows 2003 machines, although there is a messy work
around. We are running Netbackup 5.1

I have seen this problem as well. I have been informed these
are "ghost" jobs and fixed in MP4. No we haven't patched yet, so I
can't tell you if the patch fixed these issues. You are welcome to try
and let us know.

I'm running NBU5.0 mp2 on Solaris. I just started having
problems with about
8 - 10 clients out of 250. They are all windows clients. For
some reason some of the jobs
start but never show any data moving to tape. They never show
activity but the job just runs
all night never showing a tape mounting. No connection time
outs, nothing. The other problem
jobs show backup for a while but never complete. These have the
following messages in my bpbrm log.
23:59:02.526 [21534] <2> put_long: (11) network write() error:
Broken pipe (32); socket = 8
23:59:02.526 [21534] <16> bpbrm send_keepalive: could not write
KEEPALIVE to COMM_SOCK
Have know idea if the two problems are related. Don't really
know what the problem is. Any one
have ideas? Thanks.
