To start a one off from the command  line you can simply run 
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpbackupdb

You can specify -dpath for disk path or-tpath for tape path to change 
things if you like.

I always run a -dpath and save images to disk as well as tape so i can 
transfer them to a DR site
