Not a whole lot of options here Karl.
My suggestion would be to duplicate the media in question to the
appropriate media type.
You may have to create a new storage unit of type hcart with the RIGHT
density drive in it in order to accomplish this as well, but it can be
done...just a hassle.
Another thing to consider is if you have hcart STUs already, you may
have to DOWN all of those drives so your duplication will use the right
STU for the source tape (currently hcart).
You should FREEZE that media and wait for it to fully expire then DELETE
is and Re-CREATE...that may be best if there is only one media in
question.
Good luck

Subject: [Veritas-bu] changing media type from hcart to hcart2
The media manager thinks that a particular media type is hcart when it
needs to think that it's hcart2.
I could expire the tape and then re-import the data but that doesn't
sound like fun and it would take time.
Is there a way of changing the media type of a tape via the command
line?
The server is nbu 5.0MP1 running on solaris
Thanks,
KFR
