Hubert,
It's reasonably common to use DiskSuite for the system disk,
and SEVM for the rest, as discussed recently.
However your question is specifically aimed at Sun Cluster,
and mixing volume managers is currently specifically *not*
supported in the Sun Cluster environment (SC 2.0-2.2); you
can use DiskSuite or Volume Manager but not both.
I guess it's possible this policy may change for the case
of mirrored system disks; I don't know what if any changes
to the Sun Cluster framework code would be required for this.
I am personally not aware of any testing being done to add
this though, so don't hold your breath.
Mirroring root in clusters is optional, though I would think
highly desirable. Some sites create an emergency boot disk
with an overnight ufsdump|ufsrestore instead (and installboot,
patch /etc/vfstab etc -- you could in fact do both, depending
on your risk assesment and/or paranoia -- after all, just because
you're paranoid, doesn't mean the world's *not* out to get you :-)
HTH,
Stuart.

` Hubert,
`
` We currently use both SDS and VxVM on our system and have not experienced
` any problems. Our configuration is:
`
` E6500 - 2 Internal Drive Trays
` 2 A3500 Storage Arrays
`
` We use SDS to mirror /opt, /var, and / on the internal drive trays. We use
` RM6 and Volume Manager to carve up the disks on the A3500 storage arrays.

`
` Hi to all!
`
` We are using two E4500 (HA 2.2 Clusternodes) with D1000 as boot arrays and
` A5200 arrays for the shared filesystems.
` Does anyone out there have experience in using SDS to mirror the boot- and
` swap disks in combination with Volumemanger to setup the user disks (A5200
` arrays). Are there any known problems, advantages/ disadvantages?
`
` Greetings
