When I said "sync to disk", I MEANT "sync to disc (or other non-volitile
storage)"

(okay, that wasn't word-for-word what I said, but you get the picture :-)
It's nice (?) that NFS v3 is more lax about having data not actually
non-volatile before ACK-ing. But I'm not talking about NFS.
