Yes, this is true.
It is our intention, if enough customers request it through Sun and our
sales/support organizations (depending on who you buy from), to
implement a disk group split/join operation.
There is a Sunsolve doc that describes a non-supported (because if you
do it incorrectly you can really screw yourself royally, and because it
is not doable in an atomic configuration transaction) method to do this;
see Sunsolve SRDB #14882.
