SEVERE WEATHER BRIEFING
AUBURN UNIVERSITY CAMPUS SAFETY & SECURITY
                                                             Friday October 9, 2020 - 9:45 a.m. CT

The National Weather service has indicated that there is a potential for severe weather tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon starting around 1:00 p.m. CT and ending late tomorrow evening around 11:00 p.m. CT.   Any storms that develop could include winds up to 60 mph and could include brief tornadoes.



Forecast:         Severe storms could be possible for the Auburn area on Saturday afternoon into the evening.

Timing:            Saturday between 1:00 p.m. CT and 11:00 p.m. CT.

Main threats:   Rain, possibility of damaging winds up to 60 mph and brief tornadoes.



Please stay abreast of weather conditions and plan accordingly. We will continue to monitor the weather and issue updates as needed. Auburn University Campus Safety & Security will be in regular contact with the Lee County Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service to receive updates.



If a TORNADO WATCH is issued, Greene Hall and Draughon Library will be opened for the duration of the TORNADO WATCH for those who do not have a more suitable place to seek shelter.  We will have precautions in place to help ensure social distancing due to COVID-19.  AU ALERT will be activated only if a TORNADO WARNING is issued.



The safety of all students, employees and visitors of Auburn University is our highest priority. Please keep informed of the approaching weather and do not wait until a warning is issued to start preparations.
