When this problem asserts itself, the repeater can be used on campus, but has problems hearing any mobiles past the junction of AL147 and US280 (The Bottle), and probably not far out Pepperell Parkway. Students using just handie-talkies inside of buildings appear to be adversely affected, too. When the problem isn't there, the repeater can be used as far north as just south of Dadeville, and easily from an HT out at Tigertown. </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large">This duplexer system problem is an on or off thing, so it is likely either corrosion or mechanical damage inside the cables or the duplexer cans themselves. Dr. Hung and I saw the on-off nature of this problem 4-5 years ago when trying to troubleshoot the lack of sensitivity for the repeater. The duplexer will need to be <i>removed</i> from Haley Center to be properly examined and fixed. A fix in-place is very unlikely, and should not be tried. </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large">AUARC has had a recent offer from local hams Dan, KK4ICE, and Lee, KE4COL, to examine and potentially repair the duplexer assembly (if it is a <u>minor</u> problem, corrosion, broken solder joint, etc!), and retune it for the Club. However, the duplexer and connecting cables will need to be disconnected, brought down, and delivered to them. This includes the connecting cables, because they could be the source of the problem on the receive side, too. (Note: the cables between the duplexer resonators should not be removed, because they are critical lengths to make the unit work properly). </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large">This has been a recurring problem on the two meter repeater for at least ten years, maybe more. I confirmed that with members of the Club who had been on campus circa 2004-2006. Changing out the repeater itself may be a good time to get the duplexer assembly in shape for another 20 years. </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large">73</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large">John...</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large">WB4LNM</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:trebuchet ms,sans-serif;font-size:large">John H. <p>The door to the repeater room on top of Haley Center is jammed shut. A work order has been placed to repair this. Hopefully it will be fixed promptly so that we can get and replace these repeaters soon. We will tentatively reschedule the repeater installation
for next Tuesday (1/31). We will also not have a regular meeting tonight. </p>
