is that AUARC would be ‘spreading the iconic images around’ (my words) with a
wide coverage. They feel that non-standard stuff dilutes the University’s

It may be important to say to them that AUARC just intends using it for
student events like O Day, inside the hallway by the radio club at 411 Broun and
the like, and it isn’t something that is going to be ‘flown’ at Jordan Hare
Stadium so that all the TV cameras can see it. After all, the Greek system
paints all kinds of tigers and AU symbols on wrapping paper and sticks them up
around Commons and Haley Center, as well as the business windows downtown.

‘color matching’ with the official orange and blue. Those folks who are
preferred vendors typically charge a lot more for their work – much more.

Field Day 2015 was awesome. The weather was
good, the food was great, the band conditions were better than expected, and
we had a great turnout!

A few people stopped by to ask what we were up to (note to
self: get a nice K4RY banner for next year), and we got to share amateur radio
with community members and a few students (at least two of whom are interested
in getting licensed now!). Also, we learned a great deal about setting
up outside and how to string up antennas in trees (a first for
me).

Special thanks to John Melcher (N8JUC) for loaning us
antennas and an antenna tuner and to Gary Pike (KA4KBX) and his family of hams
for driving over an hour to come participate and offer their expertise.
Field Day was a great reminder of just how fantastic and supportive the
amateur radio community is.
