Hi all,

Forwarded below is information on the Sanford Middle School STEM event on Nov 8 & 9 (Wed and Thurs). If you are available any time either of those days to run through a powerpoint and show off some radio stuff, please let me know. I would like to get an idea of who is able to help by mid next week so I can let the organizers know.

Also, the School Club Roundup ends tomorrow. Feel free to use the K4RY call to make contacts at your home station since the club station is out of commission until the tower gets put back up.

Let me know if you have any questions!

-R. Chase Harrison KO4LA

Sam, Michelle, Chase -

Here are the current details on Sanford STEM Days Nov. 8 & 9. ECE is scheduled for three stations, of which I was hoping one would be radio club. I think we are still at a point where we can scale back if we need to, but pretty soon I would like to nail down the activity to system to be displayed at each station. Then we can also start scheduling in people for time slots. I can shuttle back and forth between campus and the school to assist with transportation.

Chase – I think the radio club setup was very cool last year. It would be great if we can do it again. We are early enough to request an outdoor space if that would work better than punching out a screen and running the cable out the window….

Good evening,

Thank you all for agreeing to be a part of our 2017 STEM event. We are less than a month away and I wanted to touch base with you all to make sure we are all on the same page. Please look through the following details and confirm that you are good to go.

Dates: Wednesday and Thursday November 8th and 9th. That is a Wednesday and Thursday.
Location: Sanford Middle School
                  1500 Lee Road 11
                   Opelika, AL
                   334-745-5023

  * Start/ End Times: First rotation starts at 7:50 and the last ends at 2:40 Central Standard Time. I changed the 8:00-2:35 time, please let me know if the 7:50-2:40 schedule is a deal breaker for any of you. That extra 20 minutes is needed to alleviate congestion in the lunchroom when the kids are picking up their lunches. Last year, some students only had moments to eat because of long lines.
  * There will be a total of TEN rotations each day.
  * The students you will be presenting to are 5th-8th graders. The students will be in groups of approximately 25 and they will be accompanied by their homeroom teacher and that HR teacher will stay with them for the duration of the presentation.
  * The schedule that I plan to use is as follows:

                                   Time

First Session 7:50-8:20

Second Session 8:25-8:55

Third Session 9:00-9:30

Morning Break 9:30-9:45

Fourth Session 9:45-10:15

Fifth Session 10:20-10:50

Buffet Lunch 10:50-11:40

Sixth Session 11:40-12:10

Seventh Session 12:15-12:45

Afternoon Break 12:45-1:00

Eighth Session 1:00-1:30

Ninth Session 1:35-2:05

Tenth Session 2:10-2:40

  * We will have a hospitality area set up in my classroom with various kinds of breakfast foods in the morning and a lunch buffet during the 50 minute lunch break. The breakfast buffet is usually in place by 7:15 a.m. so please feel free to come in and eat breakfast, get coffee, etc. prior to beginning the first rotation. Please believe me when I say that I will do my best to take care of you during the day and bring snacks, water, drinks to you at your station.
  * The location of your station is dictated by what you plan to do. I know some of you are planning outdoor activities. Within the next few days, I will assign you to a classroom and send individual emails connecting you with the teacher whose room you will be using. Please let them know if you need anything in particular in the room.

I thought maybe you all would want to know who else is coming and what everyone is doing. It is an awesome networking opportunity for presenters. So, here is the line up: (Presenters highlighted in yellow need to be outside. If you need to be outside and are not highlighted, let me know.
