[K4RY] Guest Speakers and Other Big News

Radio club,


Lots of exciting news for you all this week!  Firstly, we'll be having some awesome guest speakers at tonight's meeting (18:00, Broun 235).  Members of W4HOD, the Heart of Dixie Amateur Radio Society, will be joining us to talk about RTTY.  For those of you who aren't familiar with it, RTTY stands for Radio Teletype; it's a form of digital communication done of radio.  Many operators enjoy it for its ease, especially for contesting.


The second "big news" of the week has to do with our request to Yaesu for discounts on two repeater controllers.  We were approved! They're slightly back ordered, so it may be a month or two before we receive them, but we're past the biggest hurdle now.  Don't forget also that the ARRL is giving us a grant to pay for 20% of the costs, also!  We're working on getting SGA to provide a large chunk of the money, as well.
