John Hung, faculty member in Auburn University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been named a fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The honor, given to only 250 people each year, is a distinction reserved for select IEEE members with extraordinary accomplishments in the field.
“I am humbled by the recognition, yet deeply grateful for the opportunities and support at Auburn University for the past 20 plus years,” said Hung.
Hung’s teaching and research activities relate to the application of control system concepts to industrial processes. He has created solutions for electronic power converters, various electrical machines, robots and unmanned vehicles.
"Dr. Hung has attained well-deserved recognition through his selection as IEEE fellow," said Larry Benefield, dean of Auburn’s Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. "He has made solid contributions to the electrical engineering program on the Auburn campus and to the profession."
With a worldwide membership of 400,000, IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through frequently-cited publications, conferences, technology standards and professional and educational activities.
