Linking Universities - Live
IRLP Node: 9440
Location: Indiana State University
Every Tuesday night at 200 UTC (9PM EST) the IRLP node 9440 lights up with activity from across the country. The university repeater net operates on the University Repeater Network IRLP node to link together universities each week. With stations ranging from California to New York, many schools and stations get on the air to have a little bit of fun talking about radio, college life, and other interests. Since the nets creation several years ago there has been an overall increase in activity and club participation.
With colleges such as Indiana Iniversity, Rochester Institute of Technology, Cal-Poly Tech, and numerous others actively participating each week there is always a good crowd to hear. The Indiana University ARC headed the project to create the University Repeater Network based on the Internet 2 platform. Although stations are welcome to connect anytime (And even "Park" indefinetly on the node!), every college student/station is welcome to check in and see what is going on.
Basic Format
As of the 2009-2010 academic year the Rochester Institute of Technology club K2GXT has taken the main responsibilities of net control, although any other college station is welcome to get involved and try it out! It is easy and help is available to learn the ropes. Below is the basic format of the current net, suggestions are always welcomed and stations that miss the net should check out the "Ragchew" after the net.
Note: Times are in EST
8:50PM - This is (K2GXT). We will be starting the University Repeater Net in 10 mins please be ready for checkin procedure.

Any other checkins
9:11PM - During the net, net control will run through the list of callsigns, please do not talk out of turn. Secondly please keep the topics of from being adversarial. Other then that I hope you enjoy this net!
9:12PM - Thank you for your patience during checkin. We will continue the net with a topic to start the discussion with.
Sorry to bring this to a close, but it is time to end the net. If you want to hang around you can. K2GXT would like to have other clubs to help with running the net from time to time throughout the year. If you can help please send me an email. Please tell everyone about the net and get people to join. Other than that 73 from (K2GXT) and me (KT4KIT) and thank you for a great net.
Begin "After the net Ragchew"
There is lots of room to play with regarding structure, topics, and activities. The topics in the past have ranged from projects, holiday break activities, and other areas of interests. Feel free to download a recording of the checkin portion of the first net of the 2009-2010 achedemic year (A pretty light number of checkin's, I should have recorded the later nets!).
