Ujan,

Students that missed the first exam get 0 points.
As soon as they send you a valid excuse, you add their names to the makeup list on canvas and change the grade after they've taken the makeup exam.
If you've already posted the grades for only students that took the exam leaving those that missed it with a valid excuse, then you must award 0 points for all students that missed the first exam and also the makeup.
Does that answer your question?

Kind regards,

Dear Instructors,

Please post the exam 1 grades to canvas (if you have not done it).
You MUST check for students that have not taken the contract quiz on canvas and give them 0 points.
Send out an email stating that grades for students that have not yet attempted the quiz have been withheld until they take the quiz.
They must email you after taking the quiz to change their grade.

For Instructors that have already posted the exam 1 grades, you must award 0 points to such students and send out an email stating that their grades have been withheld until they take the quiz.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards,
